Daniel prepares to return to the Sierras Grandes

Daniel, an Andean Condor fitted with a BioTagLab satellite tracker

Daniel, an Andean Condor found unable to fly near La Paz, is preparing to return to Córdoba's Sierras Grandes. Following his rescue, Córdoba's Environmental Police coordinated his transfer to the Tatú Carreta Reserve and Rescue Center, where he underwent rehabilitation until he regained the condition needed to return to the wild.

Before release, he was fitted with a satellite tracker fully developed and donated by BioTagLab. The device will generate information about his movements, adaptation to the environment and use of the landscape.

These data will be essential to better understand the species' behavior and strengthen future conservation strategies. Each position will become a new data point; each data point, an opportunity to understand and protect the Andean Condor.

The initiative brings together Córdoba's Environmental Police, the Government of Córdoba, Tatú Carreta Reserve, Buenos Aires Ecopark, Fundación Caburé-i, Quebrada del Condorito National Park, Argentina's National Parks Administration, Universidad Nacional del Comahue, CONICET and the University of Konstanz.
